RC14

After lots of pleas, Burt Fox and Sonny Noir finally got Riot Control 14 mix up...sheesh that took foreva! But as they say, good things come to those who wait. My boy Burt does it again. Seriously, from the glitchy remix of Oops to the west coast hip hop throw backs, by the by, the transition from Eazy E to Rodney O and Joe Cooley is a nice homage to 90's hip hop, please and thank you B! And back again is the lovely and talented Sonny Noir...hilariously he does his own homage, presumably it's to Pete Tong...you'll have to listen for yourselves. If you want a nice way to end the year, download this mix now! Check it...enjoy!

Oh, and p.s., thankfully since I am fortunate enough to live with BF, he is going to be spinning my bday party...so if you want to see him live, please keep the 17th of Jan open...details to follow soon!

Passion Pit

I was fortunate enough to see Passion Pit @ Glasslands 2 weeks ago (see pic above from the show). For those of you who don't know Glasslands, it's this super small gallery-turn-concert-venue-at-night in Billsburg. One of those spaces where maybe it holds 200 but they pack in 350. I was literally standing on a couch for the show so I could see. A ton of fun even if they only played a 30 minute set, but really at the moment they don't have too much ground to cover.

"Sleepyhead", their track that got the hipster buzz going has been remixed by Bo Flex of Passion Pit. Honestly I don't know why this wasn't the original. I think it's by far better, but maybe it's because it's a little more dancable :) Anyway check it out see if you agree. Enjoy!

Black Keys Demo...sort of

OK, so this is not what you think it is. I stumbled onto this track on Fader and thought it was some unreleased Black Keys demo that I was fortunate to find. What it actually is, is a track by new and upcoming producer named Friend. He's from the UK and is currently working on an ep. This track is much different than the other two tracks he's produced. I am not saying this is the shit and will be the next new hot thing...but I am saying give it a good listen. It's very melodic almost reminiscent of some very old Roxy Music, mixed with a little James Murphy and a dash of the Clash ala Combat Rock...there's a pan flute for god sakes...that has to peak your interest. Let me know your thoughts.

OH no! I suck I know! It's just my new boyfriend Brooklyn has kept me busy! But here I give you this great diddy I found on Fully Fitted...thank you Ghostdad! It takes the beat to Upside Down...ala Diana Ross and puts in a funky reggae jam...seriously if this is not the best vacation song I don't know what is...off to brunch with Burt Fox and Sonny Noir...ya dig!

Johnny Osbourne

OK, I know, I suck. Dude, I've been soo busy it's insane...what's worse is that I've missed some really good parties this past week for reasons I will not go into on here...but let's just say they were not worth me missing some good booty shaking times...in any case, it's drip dropping here in the BK and I hear SF is having their Indian Summer...so since I am there in spirit, I want to pass on some nostalgia that I like to listen to when the weather is hot and you're sharing a beer with someone you're exited about...maybe on a roof top somewhere watching the sun go down...ahhh!! Ok so Johnny Osbourne...dancehall legend extraordinaire!!! His hay day was truly in the mid to late 70's...however he still gets on tracks these days like by our pals 77Klash on "Mad Again"...a very sick song, check it if you don't already know it...Burt Fox uses it on Riot Control 12.5...Anyway, this is one of my favorite tracks...you can't help but fall in love with his sexy voice...Smith and Mighty use a speed up version with some drum and bass rhythems on their Dj Kicks album...another great album...anyway go find someone to make out with!! Enjoy!

I Don't Care Anymore

Today I woke up with this song in my head...interesting as I really am in no way holding a grudge against anyone and this song readily defines fuck off you fucking fuck like no other. Maybe it was the drumming that snuck in my brain? I don't know. All I know is supposedly this song was written about Phil's ex-wife Andrea (interestingly enough he was married to Jill when this album came out). In any case, Andrea cheated on him with their interior designer. Is that possible? I mean are there straight designers that are not women? I don't know. Perhaps there are. Thank god for it happening though otherwise Phil would not have created this little jem. Some nostalgia for you on Sunday.

P.S.--BFucks and I are headed to the Yard (conveniently close to our house) to see Holy Ghost do a DJ set...stop by if you're interested and buy us beer!

XXXChange

Welcome to fall kids...I was originally hoping to post Burt Fox's and Sonny Noir's latest and greatest but they didn't get their mix up before Burt left for his 10 year high school reunion...ugghhh I hate how you constantly make me feel old! At least you make up for it with your sick taste in musica! Their new mix will be posted soon I hope! In the meantime I am hoping you're getting some old school tail this weekend or at the very least a high school make out in the back of someones car! Back to music talk...

So was sniffin' around for some good dance tunes since I am going to a 70's themed/Studio 54 Bday party tonight...oh yeah it's gonna get ugly...which is why I've been laying around and listening to music today...this old lady needs to rest up in order to keep it real with the kids tonight! Anyway, Discobelle and Fully Fitted posted none other than super producer XXXChange's latest mix. This is exactly what I was looking for...it's all about the dance floor...a gritty grindy electronic mix that will keep your hands in the air air air air...(fuck i love that old track...hello DJ Dan you did too!) Here's the setlist:

1. Black Ghosts “I Want Nothing”
2. Bag Raiders “Fun Punch” (xxxchange remix. mash version)
3. Ghost Hustler ” Busy Busy Busy” (Prince Klassen re-edit)
4. LCD Soundsystem “Get Innocuous” (Soulwax Remix)

Zomby

What up? I am exhausted and should totally be sleeping, but am pretty jacked because of barack's speech...so am gonna post a nice melodic dubstep tune and write a little something to try and relax me. I know what you're thinking...fuck another dubstep track, but seriously folks, the one thing you have to know and accept about me is that I am a creature of habit, and once a habit forms I can't get enough. I first heard this track off a mix my roommate made, by the way did I mention he's brilliant? The lad is quite talented truly. Anyway, the track is by Zomby. Yes, he hails from the UK as most dubstep artists do. The track is called "Spliff Dub" and is remixed by Rustie. It's super trippy and incorporates lots of different sounds...a definitely fun track to dance to fo sho! Anyway chickety check it...listen to it on headphones...it's AMAZING! It also happens to be sold out of most online record shops. I highly recommend putting your name on the wishlist ya dig?

P.S.--Trouble and Bass party tomorrow at Love w/Mad Decent's South Rakkas Crew and Saturday Last Show at McCarren Pool w/none other than Sonic Youth! See ya'll there.

Woppa

OK, I know this track was listed in the last mix I posted, but shit, I can't get enough of it. Breaks is an interesting genre of music. Either it hits the mark or it doesn't. There really is not very much middle ground. However this track is DOPE! Seriously ya'll...callin' out to all the DJs put this in your mix yo!!!

Nick Catchdubs

I have to say one of the best Dj names ever...dig it yo! So my man Nick is spinning tonight at Highline w/none other than Devlin and Darko. It's a midnight show and free with rsvp at info@highline.com. Mr. Catchdubs comes from the Fools Gold familia. A label known for some amazing talent. Discobelle posted this mix a couple of weeks ago and now I am posting it here. It's a really interesting variety of sounds. He starts off with some typical club bangas, but then heads into some tracks that have some old school house sounds cira early to mid 90's. Admittedly the middle is really slow. He plays some tracks waaaaayyyy too long in my opinion and I got bored...BUT he totally makes up for it in the end...OH SHIT!!! The Bassbin Twins track into Lofah makes me lose my mind...He fucking hits the mark...with a nice fun hip hop finish. Mil gracias! Enjoy and see ya'll on the dance floor! Disco nap time...

Nick Catchdubs - Slick Mix

01. Pase Rock “Get Money Kids”
02. 50 Cent “I Get Money (Catch On 45)”

05. Dukeyman “Shine”

Flowering Inferno

First and foremost, haven't done this in a very long time, for those of you that I did not shout out on your bday, I sincerely apologize...but it happens to be some very close friends/family bday this week and there happens to be a lot again...ha, the last time I did this was in April...maybe I just do it in months of A?? So Feliz Cumpleanos my nearest and dearest...shit I only get to celebrate with one this year...the rest ya'lls...I'll see very soon though!

Onto musica...so it's been wicked...nasty...sticky hot in Brooklyn...par for the course for the month of August. Been feelin' the need for some relaxin' to the maxin'...after all moving takes a lot out of you. So I found this jem for you today. It's by Quantic...aka as Will Holland. Will is known mainly for his funk and soul productions but has added a little twist since his move to Columbia. He has embarked on a new project called Flowering Inferno. He combines Dub, Reggae and Cumbia sounds on each track. I'm leaving you with a track called "Cuidad del Swing" (version). It's a B Side to one of the tracks where he replaces the original guitar section with horns. It's like a tall cool glass of lemonade in the hot hot heat...quench your thirst yo!

Hellloooooo Brooooklyyyynnnnn!!!

Wassup! Wassup! Wasssup! Wassup! Wassup! I am officially a resident of Brooklyn...Holla! Just a quick shout out to all ya'll who let me leave SF with a bang...I know easy, but we'll leave it at that ;)

So last night I went back to my blog research and found a few jems, but nothing that I was creaming in my pants about. I figured when I got home from my new day gig, I'd do further digging. As I was walking home and checking email, I got an email from my new housemate entitled, "New Shit from your room mate". A little background, BFucks, yeah that's what I call him, is music entrepreneur extraordinaire...sound engineer in the day and has a bunch of side projects brewing that include, djing, producing, writing...you can follow him and his boys at their blog called Riot Control. If you're a snob like me, I highly suggest you check out their website...they do good shit...for reals...check it!

http://riotcontrolnyc.blogspot.com/

Segueing back to his email to me, they just posted a 20 minute mix which is a little slice of heaven!

Check out the track listing:

yellow man - zungguzungguguzungguzeng
dead prez - hip hop (rmx)
77klash - mad again
sukh knight - diesel not petrol
8ball and mjg - turn up the bump
joker - snake eater
the kills - ura fever (jazzsteppa rmx)
black ghosts - someway through this
manic - killers theme 2008

http://riotcontrolnyc.blogspot.com/2008/08/rc-125.html

I listened to this running and kept looking at my ipod to see what was playing...as you all know, I adore snake eater and like burt on his blog says, the beat on sukh knight's "diesel not petrol" is sooo fucking bangin'!! I don't know you Burt but I love you...you should marry me...wait, shit, that might be BFucks aka...ha!...way to scare him off...I am good at that shit! But seriously, anyone that knows and loves my style and taste of music, this is right up your ally...a little hip hop...a little reggae...a little dub step...a little dance...you know how it do! Enjoy!

Lay it Down

Since the gun in my mouth is cocked and loaded, I decided that posting a track from my oh so sexy pal Al Green would be a bit of a respite from my current insanity. His new album is some of the best stuff I've heard in a very very long time.

God damn if you don't know who the fuck Al Green is, but for those of you who don't here's a little history...AKA the Reverend Al Green although from Arkansas, made his way to Grand Rapids, MI and began his career as a soul and gospel artist. His most prominent tracks were released in the 70's and probably were soundtracks to some of our conceptions. His voice has always been one of the sexiest that we've heard and continues to be today. So I give you track 7 off his latest album. It's called "Too Much" and well at the moment this happens to be written across my forehead, yikes! Enjoy!

Benga

To quote A-Trak...WHOA! Sorry I've been MIA but the majority of you know that my move to the BK is now official and I've been trying to figure moving my life from SF to Brooklyn the past week. I am actually about to run into a meeting, but I really wanted to get this track out. I love it and can't get enough. It's by Benga. Benga is out of South London and makes/produces some of the more melodic Dubstep. I LOVE this track! Check it!

P.S.--I promise later a video comparison of the Crookers shows and those of you in SF, Pase Rock (Spank Rock) Dj set tonight at Vessel...see ya'll there! More soon I promise...

They Hear the Bass and They Say Whoa!...

...and then they get down on the flo! Ok, Ok, Ok, I just downloaded a new track by our pal A-Trak. It's actually not bad...the comment on this at Panda Toes is hilarious, hilarious because well you should just read it yourself...I've kinda dissed A-Trak a few times and I kinda feel bad, but I stand by everything I've said...but to be fair, I do believe he has talent and it is displayed in this track, but again, truly, it is predictably A-Trak...although I guess that just proves a sign of consistency I suppose. Some good filler...oh and just when you think it's over it's not...it keeps going...the 2nd 1/2 is the best part...he slows it down and the freaky voice that says "they here the bass and they say whoa" makes it all the more danceable...Check it yo!

http://www.zshare.net/audio/14209784b87838b9/

P.S.--I am going to see Crookers tonight at a much smaller venue than Webster...and it's over 21 thank god...more on that later...tomorrow you will get a comparison...OH and those of you in SF...Friday @ Mezzanine FREE w/RSVP, Low-B and Devlin and Darko...HELLO! You know where I will be!

Jeno Live @ ComeUnity 5 Year Anniversary 1995

Since this past Saturday eve took me back to 1995, I thought it would be fitting to post the mixtape that I've listened to repeatedly when I've wanted to put a smile on my face and get on that great space coaster!! Ready? You're in for a magic ride!!

As maybe mentioned previously, ComeUnity was a party that started in 1990 here in SF. It was thrown on the first Wednesday of every month at 1015 Folsom (aka as 1015) and the resident DJs were Jeno, Garth and Simon. From time to time, they would have guest DJs, but I'd say about 90% of the time it was just them. Each month they would rotate the order of who spun when. The time slots were roughly from 10p-12, 12-2 and 2-4a. Depending on who spun when, was indicative of the type of night that would follow. Don't get me wrong, they all had their chops, but depending on the order, you inherently knew how the night would go...i.e. whether or not you needed to take or wait for that 2nd hit!

In the beginning they would sell mix tapes from the previous month's party. If you were lucky enough to buy one, it was like getting the golden ticket as they only sold so many copies. The mix I am posting is from the 5 Year Anniversary...this tape and this party became the foundation of a few of my closest friends...we often talk about our times at this party and the people we met. I love that through all the drugs and craziness of this time period our friendship is above and beyond that and one of the most concrete friendships in my life. Awww...ok, no more sentiment...but truly...this mixtape was recorded during the 12-2a session. It emulates mid 90's SF house...it's a little disco, it's a little soulful, it's got 2 Angel Moraes anthems (not to be confused with Angel Morales)..."Burning Up", which is the last track on the first side...oh yeah and I forgot to mention this recording is taken directly from the mixtape so it's not ideal...but def worth the listen...Burning Up features a girl getting off...it's pretty fucking hot...people would lose their shit when this track came on...I believe you can still buy it at discogs. The other Angel Moraes track, which is almost the last track on the 2nd side is called "Heaven Knows-Deep Deep Down"...if you ask my friends, they will tell you this was my favorite track...Garth, was hands down my favorite DJ...and he loved this track as much as I did. When the mdma was pulsating through your body, this track would take it to the next level...for reals!

In any case, my suggestion to you is to really try and listen to it all the way through...it doesn't do it justice if you only listen to part of it. Enjoy a little piece of D'Holleringirl's history!

Crookers Live @ Gatecrasher

FINALLY!!! HOLY SHIT!! I haven't been excited about a mix in a very very long time! I know I've already posted about the Crookers back in March...see 3/21, but this is soooo fucking good, better than anything I've ever heard by them thus far! AND, I get to see them this Saturday in NYC @ Webster Hall. Don't get sad SF peeps, they will be here the following Wednesday 6/25 @ Vessel...YEAH!!! In any case, Fader says this french mp3 blog where the mix came from, had the tracklisting, but alas there seems to be a problem and its missing...but I've emailed the site asking to post it. Hopefully I will get it soon. However, this mix is too good to not post now and have you start listening to it. I dare anyone to tell me this sucks...SERIOUSLY! I'll stop gizzing in my pants about it...go listen NOW!!!

Cinematic Orchestra

I'd like to start off the post by saying how lame I am. Last night I was supposed to see Blaq and Titts, but instead I stayed at a friend's house where many old friends gathered for a mutual friend's bday. One thing led to another and I ended up sleeping next to one of my best friend's on an ottoman truly only suited for one person. Needless to say my back is all jacked up and I am exhausted. I don't know why I am still up at this point, but I needed to read what the latest was on all the blogs. Sadly, most of the tracks, mixes, podcasts I listened to were in my opinion just ok. Seeing as I am in an extremely mellow mood and that I haven't thrown nostalgia your way in a while, I figured this was the perfect opportunity to post a not so typical track you might be used to hearing on my blog. Don't get me wrong, you'll understand why I love this track as it's very much produced in a way that I adhere to.

The track I am posting is called "Work It!(Man with the movie camera)" by Cinematic Orchestra. This track is off their self titled 2003 album. For those of you not in the know, Cinematic Orchestra hails out of Britain. They are on the oh so great Ninja Tune label and have been around since the late 90's. Their sound can be described as many different styles from down tempo to drum and bass to trip hop to acid jazz. The song I am posting I think comprises all of those sound elements. It's an 8 minute track that really makes you feel like you're hearing a story with the way it's arranged...a nice mix of subtleties and crescendos. I think you'll all enjoy the various instruments and styles incorporated into this track. Good eve and be well.

Joker

For those of you who have requested I post some Dubstep...here you go! The reason why it's taken me so long is because my relationship with Dubstep is just like the dude's at Fader(where I got this track from). He describes it as bipolar. I couldn't agree with him more. There are some tracks where when I listen to some of the intense bass lines, I feel like I am stuck in a K hole without a guide! I mean seriously...some of the shit is too bass heavy for me...yes I know, hard to believe ME say that but it's true. Then there are some tracks like say Skream's "Blipstream" where I shit my pants it's soo good! Speaking of Skream, as a side note, he will be at the Knitting Factory in NYC Saturday August 2nd...dope!

Anywhose, this track is by Joker...it's called "Snake Eater". Joker is from Bristol...Bristol is kind of like Philly and B'More to me...because all good things come from Bristol...for reals! Hello Smith and Mighty..a post on them later for sure! So this track I like because it's got a super slow sexy bassy beat with a woman belting out snake eater...this track would mos def go on my next "Songs to Fuck to" series...shit, more like songs to seduce you with. This beat is definitely that...damn, maybe I should stop typing and go take my clothes off. Enjoy!

OK, so you cannot post more than one video which is totally lame!!! I am not happy about the future of my video posts...

Anywhose, the next vid is filmed the correct way...more Blaq and Diplo dancing to Creator...oh and who are they introducing???

Elmo revealed!!

Dude I tried to put the 3 vids in and they ain't havin' it! Apologies...so sorry for the suspense about the mystery costume of Elmo or actually shall I say runining it since you'll see this post before the one prior...lame! Anyway, let's see if this works.

OK, so am apologizing in advance for this vid. You're going to have to turn your moniters or I guess your head to the left...but I think it's worth it to see who was in the Elmo costume...

YEAH it's Diplo w/Blaq on the mic! You know Diplo and I are bound to meet we both have the same penchant for commercial hip hop!!! I love V.I.C.'s "Get Silly"...in fact here you go!

Well M.I.A. wasn't technically not mia...she was certainly there and certianly entertained the 1000's of us dancing in the gynourmous cement swim area. However, I was dancing my ass off during her performance and I refused to stop and take pics. Additionally it was soo packed and since I am soo short and was wearing flip flops it was a no go. But needless to say, she was amazing as always. I saw her the next night at the Knitting Factory, while I was there seeing Cool Kids...also a great show...Anyway, she was there with her entourage...I told her she killed it the night before and she very meekly said thanks...it seemed as if I scared her...oh well...maybe I'll stick to just starfucking the guys! In any case, she had many a special guest at the show...let's see who they all were...

I was like who the fuck is going to be in the Elmo costume???

Blaqstarr @ Fader

Yo! What's up? I just got back from a 5 day stint in NYC/Brooklyn! Oh man, what a time! I am actually functioning normally today even though I didn't get home until 1:15 a.m. due to weather delays. I am going to split the posts up as I have lots of photos and vids to share with you. The first will be Blaqstarr and then this eve I'll do one about the MIA show.

So I literally landed at JFK wednesday eve around 10:30ish and went straight to Greenpoint for the Fader Party with suitcase and all! Blaqstarr was DJing. I was meeting a friend there and when I got there, my friend happened to be playing wing man for Blaqstarr. Hilarious stuff. Turns out Blaqstarr is a sweet sweet kid. Shit he is only 23!!! I didn't really know that. In any case, he was kind enough to let me take shots with him and of him. Later he, Jasper (Mad Decent NYC worker bee), my friend and I went into the city to some lame ass club. It was still fun hanging with Blaq. See you this weekend at Club 6. Oh shit...right, for those of you kids here in SF, club 6 I know dude, but check the line up yo: Tittsworth, Blaq and Sleazmore...word! And upstairs, Mochipet and 215: The Freshest Kids...I will swollow pride and hit up 6 fo sho...who's with me? And now for the pics...

Umm...just proof it was a Fader party ;)

Blaqstarr and Me

Blaqstarr singing over his own tracks

OK, so the pic before this pic, is my friend literally leaning over one of the tables telling Blaq he just bought the track he was playing...I can't post that pic because I promised I wouldn't post black mail pics of my friends...but this pic is Blaq's reaction as I had to pull my friend off the decks! It was priceless!

These cats we met were so much fun! I wish I had met them early on. The two guys have a collabo called Iz We...the guy on the left is Lucas Penido aka "Luke Skywalker" and the boy in the middle Gabriel Menezes aka "Gabezzz Boy". You can check them at their my space at www.myspace.com/IzWe. I am not sure how the lovely lady on the right fitted in, but regardless it was mucho allegre!

I'm leaving you with IzWe's track called "IzWe Soundsystem". Essentially it's baile beats mixed with LCD's "Disco Infiltrator". Go Support them!!

Pibes vs. Unk

Well hello there kids! Happy 6 months til xmas...shit...this year is flying by! So I was going to show you some vid I took at Switch, but I need to remind myself that I cannot dance and shoot vid at the same time. There was a lot of that going on and some hilarious commentary, but if I post what I have you might throw up while watching it! I will say Switch was a ton of fun and thereafter we went to Love to see Trouble and Bass DJs Goon and Koyote...playas outa france! We danced for 7 hours!! My friend told me his calves still hurt yesterday! I am glad I did my whirlwind tour for the shows...well worth it!

Speaking of shows, for those of you who are going to be in SF this weekend...I'd go check out the Beras Discos party at Rickshaw Stop. Here's the flyer:

Headlining is Mad Decent's South Rakkas Crew, they are amazing live!! Bring lots o weed! Beras Discos is throwing the party in honor of their 2nd release, I think it's just called Beras Discos 2...in any case, it features DJ Negro and Oro 11. These cats take cumbia riffs and mix them up with anything from hip hop, to dub, to trance...it's an interesting feat. With that I am leaving you with Oro 11's mix of a cumbia track by Pibes and Unk's "Walk it Out"...it's something I could see throwing in the middle of a mix...muy interesante...check it fo yo self!

Switch

A man who needs no introduction...his name usually follows most tracks I post...the quintessential king of remixes...his skills supersede most...A true genius. I love this man. He has gotten me to say oh shit 99% of the time while listening to his tracks...but I am not always in love...sometimes I get disappointed...but I think it just has to do with taste and not skills...I mean I love bacon, but you won't catch me eating pickled pigs feet...ya dig?

Hailing from the UK he is aka Solid Groove, Brucker (in A Brucker & Sinden) and Dave Taylor...yeah Dave, I know boring! He pretty much was the mastermind behind M.I.A.'s new album...so if you like those beats...thank him oh and a little thanks to Diplo too ;) He's the guy who jump started Santogold's career...he's remixed every B'More/Philly act I know and love. He is omnipotent...he's like god! Look how mellow he looks. The pic below is from Mad Decent's blog...thanks for that Dips! Here's what Diplo had to say: "we went to Manchester where me and atrak and switch all did wippets in a closet at some kids house.. not even playin atrak WAS MAD DRunK!!! awesome!"

(in case you're wondering...front seat Diplo...back seat...far left...dunno...middle seat A-Trak, he does look fucked up! and Switch far right)

High-fucking-larious Diplo! You so crazy!!!

So I am leaving you with 3 tracks...the first is Switch's remix of Armand Van Helden's "Jtaime". To hear an even more amazing version of this, listen to Joker's of the Scene's "Disconnected Volume 5--December 2007" mix...it comes in at 30:56...right after Crookers remix of Don Rimini's "Let Me Back Up"...JOTS nice track selection...for reals!!! Anywhose...JOTS speeds Jtaime up and it just bangs...great for running up hills!!! All you ol' school ballers who used to party with me in the 90's...you know who you are...this track will be a little piece of nostalgia for you...I think part of this track was the ComeUnity crew's anthem at one point!! You'll know what I am talking about...oh and this song sooo creeps ;)

http://www.zshare.net/audio/12776458996b4b45/

The second track is Switch's remix of Azzido Da Bass' "Dooms Night"...oh fuck is all I gotta say...this track bangs hard...if you look it up at turntable lab, there is a bomb icon next to it! It's that good!! Switch is a mastermind at creating crescendos. The beat is soo dope and the bass is kickin'!!! And you know how I feel when it comes to bass!

http://www.zshare.net/audio/127773221f350612/

OK, lastly I am posting a track the same track, but remixed by Crookers...a friend who turned me onto this...thank you very much by the way...I love that you thoroughly understand what I dig...I heart you! Oh shit and me and this pal are going to see Switch tomorrow eve at the Natural History Museum in Nueva Jork!! Yeah for us!!! Switch rarely stops on this side of the pond...so we are stoked!! Expect a full report, pics and maybe even video!!!! OK, back to Crookers track...they do a nice take on this song too...my friend, who sent it to me, argues that it's better than Switch's...I don't know that I agree...apples and oranges! You kids will dig it regardless!!! Enjoy!!

Wachoo Know Abou'...That?

LOW BEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! OH my, I think I may have blinded him last night!! I took sooo many god damn pics of him it was as if I was his personal tour photog...Hilarious! As soon as I figure out how to upload my photos onto my laptop I will let you have a taste of all the craziness that happened last night. (the better 1/2 of eliminate the H maybe yous can teach me when we's in Nueva Jork mang?)

An observation I thought of after a couple glasses of champagne...oh yeah it was that kinda night, um, but it still rings true in my sober state at the moment, and that is why is it that all my favorite bangin' djs are short? I am not complaining b/c being short is the shit! S'up SHAWTTTY!! I am short and most people who are kill it...I am not going to explain myself here...but I think most of you know what the fuck I am talking about...ha!...um, but yeah interesting nonetheless...in fact when I think about it more, I don't know too many DJs that are tall...OK, ?uestlove does not count...cuz he's really a drummer...well maybe Terminator X was tall...shit is...he ain't dead...hmm...ok I'll have to think about this a little more...if you guys think of some give a shout and lemme know who!

Anywhose, I am leaving you with Low Bee's b'More version of none other than TI's "What You Know About That?" Not much was changed to the original version 'cept our boy Bee throws in a B'More bangin club beat. Simple is as simple does. AND don't give me shit about posting TI either b/c you know you know all the words to this song and when you're in yo piece of shit car, you get all gangsta as you roll through the burbs turning to the old money bags or yuppified peeps next to you at the light throwing gang signs chantin' "Wachoo Know Abou' That?"...oh fuck, that's just me ;) Ay! Ay! Ay! Ay! Ay!

P.S.--If you are like who the hell is Low Bee, see posting 3/26/08 bitches!

Tha Mutha Fuckin' Jackpot!!!

Once again, OH SHIT!! NO I REALLY MEAN OH SHIT!!!! A post on him tomorrow...but seriously, I was doing my usual, let's see what I can download while I rest my head and this is what I found:

http://onedaylater.blogspot.com/2008/05/memory-mans-house-of-tapes-various-live.html

This is a link to the Golden Ticket! I mean if anyone has read "And It Don't Stop-The Best American Hip Hop Journalism Over the Last 25 Years" or "Born in the Bronx" (which is actually more of a coffee table pictorial) this would be the soundtrack! If you don't know what the fuck I am talking about, just think of the real deal, I am talking L-Brothers, Grandmaster Flash, Melle Mel, Cold Crush Brothers, Masterdon, Trecherous 3, Zulu Nation, Roxanne Shante, Bambaataa...and the list goes on! These are downloads to the original battles and shows taken place from 1978-1988...this is it!!! If you want to be in the know...download all this shit NOW!!! This is where it all started...the BEAT IS SOOOOOO DOOOOOOOPPPPPPPPPPPPPEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!

Mochipet

Two posts in one day! I know! I need a break from work before I take off...so I'm gonna give you a couple of tracks from my pal and yours Mochipet. Mochipet is taking off these days. He is uber talented break core king! He remixes everyone and does his own tracks. He works with everyone who is anyone these days and he is from the Yay Area...HOLLA! He's from a little town just south of SF called Daly City. Although I like to call it Daly Shitty as the weather is always shitty there. It's always overcast and foggy...ALWAYS! Anyway, he's having a remix contest where you can remix his songs and then the winner will get to be put on a 12" with some other peeps who did remixes of his tracks. So he has set up a remix blog and you can listen to everyone who has posted thus far...some are really good...some not so much. So I am giving you a good one! Check it!

http://www.zshare.net/audio/12137242e2e986bb/

Next he decided to remix my favorite bmore boyfriends yup you guessed it Spank Rock!
Enjoy!
http://www.zshare.net/audio/121369135a5974cc/

P.S.--I just checked the temp outside and it's 99. Thank god SF is much cooler coming in at 91!!! I may melt tonight!

It's That Beat

Hey there kids...it's Friday...YEAH!! This week has been rough...but we've had record breaking heat so the city has been alive!! Although mommy had a little too much fun last night celebrating with some of her gay boyfriends in the Castro as now it's a constitutional right for gays to get married in California....YEAH! Finally!!! Had to give that a plug as it's something I believe in...onto music talk now.

So as mentioned in my last post, I went to In Flagranti on Wednesday eve. What fun those kids are!! They threw down. I highly recommend going to see them if they ever come to your town. Everyone was out that night because of the lovely weather so it was a ton of fun! And what is up with all these young guys hitting on me lately? I had drinks bought for me from a 25 year old who had balls to the wall and was quite a good dancer I might add. Thanks for that young Eric!

Switching gears, I came across this track by Playdoe. Playdoe is comprised of Sibot aka DJ Fuck...yeah really...and Spoek. Spoek is an excellent emcee and hot to boot...yummy! Apparently they are straight out of South Africa. This track is of course quite danceable...and has fun fuzzy electro beats...Dig it!

Does Is It Feel Like We're Givin' In?

So tonight I am heading to see Sasha Crnobrnja & Alex Gloor, better known as In Flagranti. Everyone thinks these guys are the dirtiest duo out there. I don't see why. Yes, their album covers are of hot pussy...and I mean quite literally...and yes their videos connected to their mp3s are like snippets of porn...well not like, they are...ok some of you put your pants back on, don't go to youtube so fast! read my post first!! but their music isn't anything like say my pals Plastic Little, who are some of the dirtiest fuckers out there. These guys are your typical eurotrash who moved to NYC back in the day to get a slice of the pie. Although since they have been in NYC quite a while now, I don't believe they still qualify for eurotrash, but their music definitely sounds like it. Their sound has been said to be disco punk...in similar vain to LCD Soundsystem but I might call it italian-electro-disco. The song I am posting of theirs does sound like something James Murphy would have concocted as it has a very nice simple electro danceable loop. However, I still think they have their own unique sound. I might say this may be one of the dirtiest sounding of their songs...although not a dirty song...but the cover to this album definitely dirty! Ladies, unless you like ladies, you will most def not like looking at their covers...sorry! Ok boys, run don't walk to youtube!!

P.S.--Re: the subject line...that is what I think is being repeated in the song...for those of you who know me well know this could be very wrong! I am the worst when it comes to hearing lyrics...so someone school me if you know what he's really saying!

Guilty Pleasure

Hey there, hi there, ho there! Been a loooooonnnnnnnnnngggggg time! I know! Am sorry. I have been pretty busy...more busy than normal and hardly home! So I'm sneaking a post at my lunch break because it's been too long and I can't get this song out of my head!!

This weekend was a very good friend's bday and we celebrated A LOT! She asked for the new Madonna. Of course, I obliged. We obnoxiously sang "4 Minutes" all weekend long. We got cab drivers to play it. We even got cab drivers to sing along! Everyone was annoyed I'm sure. Although it only made us enjoy it more! 4 Minutes features both Justin Timberlake and Timbaland. This song will soon be remixed by many a DJ I have no doubt. Now I am not going to sit here and tell you that the song is amazing...but I have to say, it's pretty good in the sense that you can dance your ass off to it and you know, I am not going to diss a dance song now am I?

JT is the quintessential sassinator...and in his oh so breathy way repeats Madonna...throughout the chorus...while Madonna responds with tic toc tic toc tic toc...it's catchy...really...and the video Jesus Fucking Christ! How come it took JT and Madonna this long to dance together? The lady is about to turn 50 in August, and looks better than ever! So I give you 4 Minutes and the 4 Minutes video. Check it out...you may actually like it!

ReeeeeeeeeeeeeMiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiixxxxxxxxxxxx!!!

Wassup? Wassup? Wassup? Wassup? Wassup? So lately I've been encountering all these remixes of old songs. In this post, I've included 3 new re-mixes along with the original so you can compare notes. Let me know your thoughts.

I've recently stumbled upon a Ghetto House remix of Hip Hop legends and political/cultural junkies Dead Prez' Hip Hop. Yes, yes smarties, the song that Chapelle Show stole the bass line from for the opening of the show...which truly is one of the sickest bass lines on a track ever! It's interesting as it's almost an entirely new song as the lyrics get changed but the message is still the same...it's more like an homage to the song. I'm not in love but all the bloggers seem to be, so check it and see what ya think:

Old Dead Prez

Next we have one of my oldest loves Fugazi. This song is Long Division which is a super short diddy and as simple as it gets. Shit there is nothing that they ever did that I did not like. If I were to ever see Ian MacKaye walking down the street I would pass out. I would! And Joe Lally, FO'GET ABOUT IT!! I've rubbed one out to him since I was 11! He ensued my love for bass players and was probably the reason why I dated so many!!! God damn those guys were so talented! RESPECT!!! So the re-mix version of the song would be better if they eliminated the "whoa/yeah" and the raver whistle. I'm a purest when it comes to Fugazi and so of course I don't like the re-mix, but for those of you who don't like punk, you may find the song more palatable with a dance beat attached to it.

Last but not least we have none other than America's apple pie The Boss!! I'm on Fire has always been one of my favorite songs of his. As a little girl I imagined myself making out with my best friend at the time Casey Brandt. Dude, I have tried to google your ass to figure out where the fuck you are! I miss this kid. We were really great friends from when we were kids through my very early 20's...then he moved to Montana and I don't know what ever happened. Perhaps he got all Brokeback Mountain on me...who knows! Anyway, this re-mix is actually not bad. I know, how could I say that about such a classic song? But really it's super mellow...something I might include in one of my "Making Sweet Love" Mixes. Those of you fortunate to receive those have since had sex for the first time, gotten married and have had children...I'm that good!! HA! It's definitely not as good as the original, of course! But interesting and definitely palatable.

Bitter Betty, Table for One!!!

OK SERIOUSLY!!! Coachella is now over so please no more, "I'm sooo surprised you didn't go this year!" "Isn't this the first time ever you've not gone?" "Aren't you really bummed you're not there?" "Aside from the headliners, aren't most of those acts people who you really really like?" I can't deal anymore. It's done. No, I don't want to see the video of Prince doing "Creep"...It's actually one of the songs I don't like by Radiohead. I also don't like "Been Caught Stealing" by Jane's Addiction. In fact I HATE that song...if I hear it I want to slash my wrists. Yes, I actually hate a song by Jane's Addiction I know...unheard of for me! So because of said Coachella, I haven't seen too much new stuff, because people were/are still travelling back to their abodes today. Since I am done being bitter about it...ok this was my last rant, I am going to throw some nostalgia your way through some of the performers who were at Coachella...check them out:

Prince-"Controversy"--Ala 1981...This has always been one of my favorite Prince songs and I have had plans for this song for a very long time. I can't tell you what for but it will be soo good once I make it come to fruition! TRUST!

http://www.zshare.net/download/1124127797627d0e/

Love and Rockets-"No New Tale To Tell"--I made a mix for my sister with this on it representing 1987 and now it's one of my soon to be 4yr old nephews favorite songs! He really likes to belt out..."It's all the same THIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGG!" It's hilarious!

http://www.zshare.net/download/112412915bb5155a/

Kraftwerk-"Tour de France"--'83 Shit, I mean this is where it all started. This is truly one of the greatest tracks ever. Just ask Afrika Bambaattaa...(read about the evolution of Planet Rock).

OMG!!!!

OK, this is not music related at the moment but it could be in the future...so my Perpetual Wedding Date/Sharer of Habitat/Co-lover of Bad Hip Hop/One of My Favorite Partner's in Crime/Best BFF EVER!! just gave me my belated birthday present...(hello 3 months later!)and guess what it is??? A mutha-fuckin' nice god-damn camera!!! Oh shit! Do you guys know how dangerous this is?? It's pretty fucking dangerous because it takes movies!!! So you know what that means? I can then post pieces of shows I go to along with some drunken jibberish to boot! I might sound like the guy from the old game show Password or Homer Simpson on Duff beer. Either way, prepare yourself for some drop dead hilariousness in the near future...

The Rub

The Rub is made up of DJs Ayres, Eleven & Cosmo. As The Rub, they spin old school classic hip hop records and have a monthly party in Brooklyn at Southpaw the first Saturday of the month. This party has gotten a ton of press as it's probably the best time to dance your ass off to your favorite jams from back in the day. They have also been so kind to do a hip hop mix series on their website which very nicely highlights some of the best hip hop from 1999 to 1979. You can download each year by going here:

http://www.itstherub.com/radio.htm

I am very excited as next weekend one of my partners in crime & hired NYC show correspondent and I will be attending Studio B's grand opening of their rooftop garden! YAHOOEY! The Rub will be throwing down on the 1's and 2's alongside Roxy Cottontail and D'Holleringirl's favorite boys to shake her booty to Spank Rock! This is a recipe for a muthafuckin' good time!

So I need to make a shout to one of my friends. This post is for youte because you read my blog even though I know the majority of the stuff I post is not your scene. Since you are a dedicated follower and since you made a request, I leave you with the following (see track 2):

http://www.zshare.net/audio/11132220ee2350d9/

I couldn't get just the track without actually running out and buying it...which at 7 am no record shop is open. However this mix has a taste of it. It will have to do for the time being. I'll get you the real deal as a housewarming present. In fact you should have another Dance Your Ass Off Party and have people bring records as housewarming presents just like the old days. 'Cept this time don't fuck up your knee! Smoke 'em up Johnny!!!

DTL

***I started writing this yesterday 4/24. It's now 4/25 and am just now getting back to it...so I am no longer still drunk, I SWEAR!***

Holy Shit! OK folks, so A) I may still be drunk...B)I'm totally still drunk! WOW, I hate being at the office like this...good thing I am going to be "Out in the field" most of the day...yahooey! So last night I went to see Drop the Lime at my new favorite club in SF called Vessel. I am so excited about it...it's so fucking dope! A little piece of NYC in SF if you will...with drink prices twice as expensive...shit! But still a great venue nonetheless. So me and my boy...my new fave dancing partner...ok well you have always been a favorite in the 10+years we've known each other...but as of late, since you let me drag you to shit you've never heard of at a moment's notice and we always compare notes about who masturbated more that day...you are certainly my new fave...not to mention...we're a fucking hot couple...you with your blonde hair and me with my raven curly locks...shit we TOTALLY could have taken that couple home last night...even our pal Luca Venezia...aka DTL...would have dropped everything for a romp with us...he totally swings both ways he's fucking Italian! HA! But I digress...so seriously...I've not been that close to a DJ in a long time. It was an amazing amazing time. I've been trying to upload his mix from XLR8TR but am having problems so you'll need to get it yourself at www.xlr8tr.com it's in the podcast section for November. It's quite good. In the meantime you can get a piece of him with this track. He played this track last night and it's quite good. If you like this, you'll like his mix for XLR8TR...it's great for working out!! Check it!

If You Ain't Got No Money...

...Take Your Broke Ass Home!!! OH SHIT! This new track from The Cool Kids is soooo DOPE!! First if you don't know who The Cool Kids are, run don't walk to buy their album. I've had the pleasure of seeing them twice now...in both SF and NYC. They're out of illville Chi-Town and all of 22 and some change. Listen to their lyrics they're innovative and their beats are sick.

This new track is called "Miami Beach"(Hydroz Metro-Dade Bass Mix). It's a straight throw back to Miami Bass sound and who doesn't love the big booty bass of Miami Bass? Someone find me this record...DAMN! Dig it!

Starfucker

That'd be me...yes, yes, admittedly I am a starfucker. I can't help it. I have to say though, I've been quite good lately and have not made an ass out of myself in front of said famous people. However on Saturday eve I found myself talking to Aoki which was quite enjoyable. Let's back the truck up a bit shall we?

So Sat eve was the Fools Gold party and a bunch of friends and I went. Prior we had met for cocktails at one of our usual haunts located stumbling distance from my house. This place pours ridiculously strong drinks, essentially if you order a kettle soda with double lime like yours truly, you are getting a glass of vodka with a splash of soda...and I mean splash. Knowingly, I was actually milking my drinks...SHOCKER I know...but I really wanted to make sure I remembered everyones sets. We get to the club close to 11:30 p.m. and hardly anyone was there, which was actually a little surpising to me. As we walked in, we see Aoki come walking towards us. I turn to my boy and we both at the same time said that's Aoki! We kept walking though and got drinks so we could head to the floor and catch the end of Sammy Bananas set. Seeing as we were some of the first people on the dance floor, we pretty much took over, which of course is one of my favorite things to do. A girlfriend who was in rare form that night, I think mostly because before we went out she announced she was planning on making out with someone...ha! Well she was all about twirling me around and dipping me a lot. She was typsy and hilarious and I kept thinking this must be what I look like when I get like this. Anyway, at one point she spun me so hard that we went falling into this couple. Awesome! There were these dudes behind us commenting on our acrobats and not but five minutes later girl was making out with one of them...it was great! Anyway, while my lady was playing tonsil hockey with said dude, Aoki came on and threw down. I have to say I wasn't really impressed with his set in NYC, I thought Sinden by far had the best chops in NYC...but Aoki came with it. He was really into his set too which of course is one of my favorite things to see. After his set was A-Trak...oh I hate to say this, but I think he is a far better producer than DJ. Every time I've seen him I've been like, eehh. All of a sudden my little switch in my head told me time to go. Now if you've known me and have gone out with me before you know I pull a disapperaring act. Most of the time I tell one person that I'll be right back. If I ever say that, it means I am out. I just have a hard time bringing myself to say good bye to people especially if I am out with a ton of people which I was on Sat eve. So as I grabbed my shit to take off I literally ran into Aoki. Here's how the convo went down:

Me: Hey you're Steve Aoki
Aoki: (looks at his hands and shirt and then looks at me) Well I guess I am
Me: Wow your set was great tonight...I also saw you in NYC...I'm your stalker
Aoki: Huh, really? Intersting.
Me: No, no...but I did see your set in NYC and I thought tonight you really out did yourself
Aoki: Thanks...so are you saying I sucked in NYC?
Me: No! NO!!! Of course not!! (thinking shit I am a horrible liar)
Aoki: You're a horrible liar
Me: (laughing nervously) No you don't suck I just like what you played tonight better (still laughing nervously)
Aoki: Thanks kid!
Me: I gotta go...this lady is wasted and needs her bed.
Aoki: (laughing) OK miss nice chatting with you even though you think my set sucked in NYC
Me: STOP...good night!

So he was super cool and a great sport...thanks Aoki!! OK, so I bought his album Pillowface and His Airplane Chronicles. It's a great mix of electro synthy beats with the opening track being by none other than mega punk stars Refused. D interesing that you and I were talking about them the other day and this song in particular. Anyway, most of you will hate the opening track because its loud, in your face and agressive...of course I love it! I used to be a punker back in the day...another post maybe one day. In any case, it's a really great album...nice job Aoki, nice job! Enjoy!

Sammy Bananas

So I am getting excited as tonight is the Fool's Gold party at one of my old stomping grounds. They actually turned the downstairs of this club into a separate club of its own. Last time I was there was years ago and when I went it was like a high school reunion. All the OG club goers were there and it was insanely fun. I wonder who will show up tonight?

Since Sammy Bananas is one of the DJs gracing the ones and twos tonight, I thought I'd leave with you with one of his signature club bangers. This song is hilarious...cuz well, you'll see why! Time for my disco nap...more manana! Enjoy!

Don't Want No Short Dick Man!

RIGHT? RIGHT! More on that later. So again apologies for being MIA yet again...but I was in Brooklyn and NYC since Thursday and even though I took my laptop with me, I did not have enough time for posting while I was there. I did however have enough time for seeing some really great music which this post will be about.

So Thursday eve went to the Fools Gold party which was Sinden, A-Trak, Kid Cudi, Steve Aoki, Nick Catchdubs and Sammy Bananas...I am going to this show here in SF Saturday so will do a comparison Sunday at some point.

What really needs to be talked about is my adventure Saturday evening at Le Royale. It just so happened that Xavier De Rosnay (one half of Justice) was doing a DJ set. I had mentioned this to two of my friends who genuinely seemed interested in checking the show out. One never returned a text...not a surprise and the other had the option of potentially getting laid so they opted for that...totally understandable. However before I got the "I'm blowing you off to get laid" text I was already on my way to Le Royale assuming they would show. Once I got the text I thought well I am pretty close should I still go? I was a little nervous because I had yet to go to a club by my lonesome in NYC and wasn't sure if it would be similar to SF where making dance floor friends is as easy as 1, 2, 3! Having had 2 cocktails in me, I thought what the fuck? I have nothing to lose and I really wanted to dance.

So I get to the door and there are a bunch of people in line and it's not moving. I ask the people in front of me if I was fucked if I didn't have a ticket and they pretty much said yeah. However since I was by myself, looking pretty sassy and there was a dude manning the door, I figured I could somehow sneak my way inside. There were 2 drunk guys getting in the doorman's face quite literally and the doorman was not having it. I started to panic thinking I am FUCKED! These guys are ruining it for me! Just as I was about to get out of line, some random dude asked if anyone needed a ticket. I jumped up and down in the same manner kids used to when they heard Miss Nancy from Romper Room call their name through her magic mirror...sadly drizzholleringirl never had her name called :(...enough of the painful childhood memories...Anyway, I was stoked and he only asked for face which was even better.

As I walked into the club I was literally slapped with the smell of cigarettes, wine, garlic and BO...Tre Bien! The french contingency is here reprazentin'! I should have expected it. One thing quite different about SF & NYC is the eurotrash that seeps through most dance floors . They're everywhere in NYC and only in SF June through October. Good people watching for sure. The smell was sooo overwhelming though that I needed to pound 2 cocktails back to back. I went upstairs where Xavy was set to spin. Met some nice folks who were looking to move to SF. I told them we should switch apartments ;) One of the guys noticed Xavy was setting up so we all chasaed to the dance floor. No really we did.

Let's talk about the dance floor. People seem to forget that a dance floor is made for dancing yes? And when you dance it means you move. And when you move, you are likely to bump into others. And when you do, you smile and acknowledge them as you are having just as good of a time as they are. And then everyone is happy and enjoys their time. You would think that's how it goes. Well there are always people who have never taken dance floor etiquette 101. I have a doctorate in this field and graduated magna cum laude so there is no trying to prove me wrong here. Seriously who throws bows in your back because your ass is touching them? MOVE then! No one is forcing you to stand here...and for that matter why the fuck are you STANDING on the dance floor??? It's not what it's made for!!! So me and this dude were about to throw down as I firmly told him it was not necessary for him to dig his elbows in my spine. Since he didn't seem to want to listen, instinctively I did what only this SF girl could think of doing to make peace...I pulled out a j and asked him if he smoked...30 seconds later we were BFFs. He ended up being a really nice guy and apologized for his idiocy. He introduced me to his pals and we had a nice little crew. For the next 2.5 hours we danced our asses off! I mean I did not leave to get a cocktail Xavy's set was soo good...even with him smoking cigs his set was still amazing! The five of us were soaking wet by the end of the night. It looked like I had showered with my clothes on. I haven't done that in a long time! I was happy I took the plunge and was totally successful!

You'll be ecstatic to know that I found Justice's Dj Set for Fader and it's very similar to what Xavy played Sat eve. This is a nice segway to the title of this post...if you go to 6:02 of the mix...Xavy brings in one of my favorite tracks that I forget who it is, everyone uses it...it's an amazing electro beat that gets everyones arms up and asses shaking...Xavy played that track layered with the vocals of don't want no short dick man...the crowd went bananas...Although I don't think the guys I was with liked the fact that I knew the words and kept singing it to them...oops ;) Unfortunately there is no track listing, BUT this set is a good mix of club tracks that includes extended remixes of Justice songs and the very last track makes you wish the set didn't stop. If you want a little taste of my saturday night adventure...download this mix! Enjoy!

P.S.--Shit I just had a flashback to the evening...Oh Xavy, you genius! Do you know what he followed with after the Don't Want No Short Dick Man track??? This track...C the Baddest B...I thought of you and our taking over the right side of the dance floor days ;)

Z-Trip

Hey there hi there ho there...sorry I've been M.I.A. There has been way too much going on in the past few days with birthdays, wedding showers and social engagements. I've not been able to say no to much of anything these days. Today is exciting because I am finally going back to the city I love soo much and will soon be new home to me...yes that is Brooklyn! Soo in light of that I wanted to give you something spectacular, but guess what? I've downloaded a ton of music and listened to a lot of it...you all should be happy that I essentially live in my car and that I can listen to music at work. In any case, a lot of what I've downloaded has been OK. Not great. Kind of a bummer really. You would think with some of these track listings they'd be insanely good, but alas they are not. However, recently I did download something new from your friend and mine, Z-Trip.

Who doesn't know Z-Trip? Really? Well you should. He is one of the godfather's of mashups. He truly is a unique talent. Aside from scratching and mixing which he does flawlessly, he also makes his own music and plays instruments. He kills a drum set...in the same way Travis Barker, Keith Moon (well that would be past tense for KM since the yolk is no longer with us...oh I miss you so!)...and Matt Cameron do...yes I said it, Matt Cameron...did you ever see him with Soundgarden? Three words dude JESUS CHRIST POSE...His hands used to bleed in the same way Pete Townshend's did doing his ever popular windmills...I shit you not...but I digress...point is Z is an amazing guy. Politically aware, culturally savvy and just plain stupid dumb. Recently he did a great mashup for White Label (a post on them will follow later). This track includes the beat to Mims, "This Is Why I Am Hot!" (B remember that being our theme song last summer along with "Walk it Out"...wesss side walk it out...HA!). He adds the vocals from Dawn Penn and Bounty Killer's "You Don't Love Me", throws in a splash of Sister Nancy's "Bam Bam", a dash of bmore sirens and does a little scratching. The producing is excellent and on point. A little gem for you.

http://www.zshare.net/audio/10281523673f341b/

The next mix I am leaving you with is an old mix from both Z-Trip and Radar Live from Future Primitive...the first time a lot of us saw Z-Trip and literally stood if front of their tables with our mouths opened the entire time. I think I said "Oh Shit" more times than I ever have at this show. Oh Future Primitive you threw the best shows...what the fuck happened? Anywhose, this mix is 10 fucking years old...shit...I am old dude! However it is really really good. A great mix of old school hip hop with a splash of classic rock...seriously good. I think Djs who do these kind of mixes now are all homages to this mix in particular. Party people pumping their fists like this!!

http://www.zshare.net/audio/10278337e8cf304c/

As an added bonus because I love Z-Trip so much...in fact let me tell you a little story of how much I love him...I stood in line for 15 minutes to meet him. HA! I know what you're thinking, 15 minutes no bigs. Try standing in a sardine line with tons of other people for 15 minutes in 112 desert heat. I probably lost a couple of pounds in water weight as I was soaking when I finally got up to the table. The best part is he really is the nicest guy and his fiance, who I believe is now his wife, is just as sweet and hot! OH and you know whose set I missed the end of to do this? Diplo...sorry Dips...you were throwing down too...but I knew I'd see you later! In any case, he like me, likes to share...so on his website he has a downloads section. For some ridiculously good mash ups, I highly recommend the Live in LA mix...for those of you aspiring DJs watch the QBert interviews...Oh and the Miami Bass tribute is great too. Get some good stuff kids!

Creepin'

**DISCLAIMER** Warning, I was beyond tired writing this so be prepared for lots of F bombs and lots of gramatical errors I am too tired to fix...DEAL SUCKAS!!

OMG! I am soooooo fucking tired...and am starting to get sick again!! Jesus fucking christ are you kidding me? I guess I should get more than 4 hours sleep on a school night. Was it worth it? FUCK YEAH! Oh GZA...man what a great show! OK, so seriously he was on his mark and proved his mad skillz last night. I am soo glad my friend got me into the sold out show. Oh and you know what else was fucking awesome? The 20 to 1 guy/girl ratio. In SF, that's how it is at most hip hop shows...lucky me! It was pure heaven.

So given my oh so tired state and given that I haven't had a chance to listen to the 5.5 gigs of music I've downloaded in the past 2 days...yeah seriously...I'm working hard for you kids...Anyway, I am gonna keep it simple tonight.

I thought tonight's focus should be on my use (or some of you might say *over use*) of the word *creepin'* to describe hip hop tracks I dig. Yeah, yeah...I am a dork, I know...but a dork that is right nonetheless. Visualize this, you're rollin' on some dubs with your boyz, not smilin', just bangin' to your beats, maybe a j in hand and mos def doin' the head bump...the cadance typically sounds like something is sneaking up on you and about to pounce.

For your listening pleasure I've given you 3 creepin tracks...all from the WEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT SIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDEEE!! Seriously, I am for hire if your Grandpa Harold wants to learn gang signs or the kid and play.

First track, representin' City of Compton, my and your boy, The D.O.C. He was actually from The Republic of Tayhass, but moved to Compton and hooked up with Dre. Sources say that The D.O.C. was Dre's first protege. His style was unique and on point. No, he's not dead, but he got into a serious car accident that actually severed his vocal chords. For the longest time I thought he quit rappin' because he had throat cancer...but I got schooled :) Anyway, this track came out in '89...and if you grew up on the west coast, I don't care how old you were at the time, you knew this song and loved it...DROPPPP IT ON THE ONEEEEEEEEEE BOOOOYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!

http://www.zshare.net/audio/9982376f6ca08d/

If you're a lyrics person, this next track is a throw away. Simply, it's all about getting fucked up on drugs. Daz Dillinger is the creator and you know I am not going to sit here and speak highly of his talent, because, well, I don't necessarily think there is talent here. Dillinger got his claim to fame by being instrumental in Death Row Records as part of the duo Dogg Pound (Kurupt was his partner in crime). Apparently he's also snoop's cousin...shit who the fuck isn't...that will be one of my post's for sure...HOWEVER, this song super creeps and whether the lyrics are bad or not this song is still fun! Oh and it came from the soundtrack to super disturbing director, Larry Clark's Bully. All I can say about that movie is the following, it's about teenagers that kill each other, there are lots of gratuitous, I mean lots of gratuitous shots of Bijou Phillips' pussy and the cherry on the cake...based on a true story that happened in none other than a small town in fucking Florida...nuff said. We smokin' bom bombs, we smokin' bom boms, we smokin' bomdabombadadabomboms!

http://www.zshare.net/download/9983870d270735/

Last, but certainly not least from the YAYYYYYYYYYYYYY AAARRRRRRRRRRREEEAAAA...Too $hort! Too $hort's been rappin since he was 4 fucking teen years old...no joke!!! From East Oakland, as if you didn't know since he shouts out to e. oakland in virtually every song. I saw Too $hort and Ice Cube in a warehouse in East San Jose when I was 16!!! There was a shooting that night in the warehouse during Cube's encore and everyone went running for the door...it was a very scary thing to experience as a stoned, catholic school girl, who happened to be lying about her whereabouts that evening. All I kept thinking was if I get shot, my parents will be sooo fucking pissed!!! Enough about me, Too $hort has a very distinct voice and he loves to say beeatch...according to him, in this song, he claims he said it first! HA! Nice try Too $hort! This jam is a faster creepin' song but definitely creepin' and definitely a sick track! Although this song was part of the hyphy movement, unlike the rest of those characters and their tracks, this one is a classic! I come from East Oakland where the youngsters get hyphy!!!

Bill Groundhog-Day, Ghostbustin'-ass Murray!

Once I was on the phone with a friend and we were having a heated argument regarding "Enter the Wu Tang". She was insistent that above everyone else, Method Man had the best chops as he was the *only* one who got a solo on that album. WACHOO TALKIN' BOUT WILLIS??? Is pretty much what I told her. I mean I could tell you the diatribe here, but I shall refrain. *Obviously* she was not in the know, like yours truly. In a nutshell, I gently reminded her that my boy, The Genius...aka GZA, also had a solo..."Clan in da Front" and he too had a lot of chops...all the critics agreed. Her comeback was, the GZA the RZA why doesn't he choose who to be?!?! NI*&A WHAT??? I merely said go listen to "Clan in da Front" and go rent Jim Jarmousch's "Coffee and Cigarettes". She hung up on me. The next day I got a message from her that said, you were right I should have known better than to argue with you BUT for the record RZA is hotter than GZA...(I totally disagree with that by the by). You knew she couldn't lose gracefully. Oh come on now...don't be a sour puss that story was funny and you know it! I love you and miss you more than you know! Shoot, you're probably not even reading my blog bitch!

So why the fuck did I tell you that story? Because tonight I get to see none other than GZA perform "Liquid Swords" in its entirety...HELLLLLLZZZZZZZZZ
YYYYYEEEAAAAAAHHHH!! Ok, so who doesn't know about Liquid Swords? Maybe a lot of you. Not everyone was a Wu Tang fan. I know I wasn't in love with everything they put out. However, if any one of you knew me when Enter the Wu Tang came out, you'll remember how I used to annoyingly get in your face and say "WELCOME TO THE 36 CHAMBAS!!!" C'mon, that's some fun shit to say! Soooo Liquid Swords was GZA's solo project released in 1995. Lyrically this was one of the best albums out at the time. RZA and 4th Disciple produced it. I like it A LOT! So for you a little nostalgia and the album Liquid Swords. Enjoy!

P.S.--Coffee and Cigarettes not one of Jarmusch's best...but check out this scene between GZA, RZA and Bill Murray.

Brothers and Sisters, Brothers and Sisters...I Don't Know What This World is Coming to?

Given my oh so tired state from my ridiculously fun weekend, I thought we might take it down a notch. I'm feeling mellow and am thinking of some hip hop that is perfect for a sunday after a long weekend of drizzin'.

First I want to share a new track from the Minneapolis duo Atmosphere. Minneapolis? I know what you're thinking, *Phew* no more B'Mo/Philly...well at least for right now. Ant and Slug just came out with their 6th album and if this song is indicative of what the rest of the album sounds like then I am all in. In all honesty, I am not in love with everything they do but this track is some good stuff. You'll dig the beat and the lyrics are fly. Check it:

http://www.divshare.com/download/4139006-5bb

As many of you know I often listen to my ipod on shuffle. On the way home from the airport, it played a duo that I am sad to say no longer exists. This is Jaylib which was the combination of Madlib and the late J Dilla. J Dilla died in February 2006 of Lupus. He was only 32 and had soo much talent. Although they mostly did their own solo work, Madlib and Dilla hooked up and made this amazing album in 2003 called "Champion Sound". This album is perfect for my mood at the moment. Favorite tracks include, "The Red", "The Heist", "Strip Club" and "Survival Test". Go roll a J, take a few tokes and listen.

http://www.zshare.net/download/98149655c6f117/

As a bonus, I am including a track that Jaylib remixed. It's called "Hydrant Game" (feat. Quasimoto). This is how much I love you and love this song. The track is on Peanut Butter Wolf's album 2k8 BBall Zombie War. I bought the album from Itunes. As you know, you can't share any tracks bought off of itunes. So I decided tonight I was going to search and search for this track so I could share it with you. Just so you know I started this posting at 7:30 p.m. and it's just about 10 p.m. See I do love you!! I finally found this website called www.djdownloads.com. It's a British site and like Itunes you pay, but you have the ability to share the tracks. Take another toke off that J, listen to the lyrics, do the hip hop head nod and smile as you witness this 1:37 masterpiece.

http://www.zshare.net/audio/9815844d12cd57/

Since this post has been dedicated to hip hop duos, I thought it apropos to end with Public Enemy. I found out that Chuck and Flav will be playing "It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back" in its entirety at the Pitchfork Music Festival 7/18-7/20. As you know that album is simply amazing. I'm sharing the copy I actually uploaded from the original record. It might not be a perfect recording so I apologize in advance...but it will be cool to hear some of the snap, crackle, pops! Now who wants to come with me to Chi-Town in July? We can do a side trip to Wrigley, drink some Old Style and cheer on my boyfriend DeRosa. Who knows...maybe we'll even run into Kid Sister?

TERRRRRRRMIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNAAAAAAAAAAATOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRR XXXXXXX!

Electro Fuzzzzzz

DUDE! So much to say about the show last night...but to keep it brief, here are some shout outs:

-Diplo...loved *you* dancing your ass off...I hope you post your tour mix...had I been any closer my body would have crumbled from your pounding rolling bass lines...thanks for visiting...come back again soon!

-To my french duo friends...I'll be honest...I wasn't expecting much...but you blew me away...my dawgs are raw from dancing to your fuzzy hypnotic beats...au revoir!

-Hey Eric...it's cool man, we've all been there...I'm not taking it personally...you just took one too many tokes...my shit is strong I *warned* you...and Justice had you in a stranglehold...hope you made it back to the mothership ok.

Nuff said...now onto the music portion of this broadcast...

Since I was in electro heaven last night I was thinking about who their influences were aside from the obvious Daft Punk...one group came to mind and that was none other than those crazy kids out of my beloved Brooklyn, Warren Fischer and Casey Spooner...better known as Fischerspooner. So yes I am well aware that they have only been around since 1998...but they have certainly had a huge impact in the last 10 years on many many folks! Everyone pays homage by remixing and sampling their songs. You hear it on the dance floor all the time...hello James Murphy!!!

So I am going to begin by giving you my favorite song of theirs...you should download this if you don't have it already...sounds really good with headphones...get ready to dance...oh and if you've never seen a Fischerspooner show...you're missing out...energy energy energy...the stage is like a carnival on crack...wait that's kind of redundant...seriously one huge brain twisting cluster fuck...so much fun! Put on your seatbelts, you're in for a heart-pounding ride!!

http://www.zshare.net/audio/9685998c28b8af/

The next track is a remix by our friend James Murphy...ala DFA...For those of you who are horrible with names, James Murphy is the front man for LCD Soundsystem and DFA...and of course he produces for so many peeps and DJs under his own name. He did a great new version of Emerge...oh yeah that's the song above...check it:

http://www.zshare.net/audio/968632288f9c71/

The last track is Fischerspooner's own remix of Emerge...listen to the lyrics...they're pretty funny...at least part of them are...Ok maybe I'm the only one who thinks they're funny...except for some of you sick twisted fucks close to my heart! I am perpetually 4 :)

http://www.divshare.com/download/4122768-079

Alright kids...as much as I want to write to you about lots of stuff my day off needs to start as the bear just woke up. We have a full day of adventures ahead of us and we need to get movin'! Even though I am leaving you, when I come back I will have soo much to share. Have a good one, Enjoy!

P.S.--Casey Spooner what happened between you and Michael Stipe? You were *such* a cute couple! I would have paid to see that sex tape!
